Manual Lymph Drainage

Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Norwich & Norfolk Area

NewLeaf Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a highly specialised form of massage. The massage uses light, rhythmical, very precise hand movements, pressures and sequences. MLD works at a skin level to influence the direction and speed of lymphatic flow, re-directing if necessary. A treatment commences at the neck to clear the area and ‘make space’ for lymph to be brought there. The next part of the sequence will depend entirely on why MLD is being performed and the particular needs of the individual.

The History of Manual Lymph Drainage
During the early 1930’s Dr. Emil Vodder created a unique range of movements which brought relief from chronic conditions such as sinus congestion and catarrh. Since Dr. Vodder’s pioneering work, MLD has spread worldwide and has become a popular treatment in many European hospitals and clinics. It is now gained acceptance worldwide as a component in the treatment and control of lymphoedema.
